Will Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution Receive an Update?

Introduction

As of now it has been well over 6 months since the last free DLC update for Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution video game, which released back on March 24th. This update added new cards, story mode content for the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime, as well as an official release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. However, since then the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG has received many new card packs; Rise of the Duelist, Eternity Code and Secret Slayers to name a few – adding meta defining cards such as Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Eldlich the Golden Lord and Triple Tactics Talent to the game.

So when are these cards coming to Link Evolution? and will the game get any future DLC?

The short answer is, we don’t know. However there is a light at the end of the tunnel. December 19th marks the beginning of Jump Festa 2021 in Japan, a multi-day event that celebrates Shonen Jump anime and manga licenses and usually provides us with new announcements. It was at this event last year where we first heard news of the first update for Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution, and so this year, with a “Yu-Gi-Oh! Latest Information Stage – OCG and Duel Links” scheduled for 2PM JST on that day, we might be in for a treat here.

Of course Konami could also announce a brand new Yu-Gi-Oh! game for the newly released PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, in addition to Nintendo Switch.

There is also a chance that we hear no news at all. The original Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist game recently had the fourth anniversary of it’s first and only DLC release and free update. Since Link Evolution has already moved past that point, we may be out of luck for any new content for the game which would be a shame to see.

We’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled on December 19th to see what Konami has planned for us. Hopefully, some new cards to collect and cross platform play would be a nice addition.
